Carvoeiro Town

Carvoeiro is a picturesque village nestling between two cliffs. It is layered with white-washed villas and buildings, which seem to undulate in harmony with the natural rocky landscape. The beach is small but ample and is fringed with seaside cafes and restaurants and still home to local fishermen whose boats complete the picture postcard scene. Although there are lots of bars and restaurants there is only one night club and this makes Carvoeiro ideal for families and couples looking for a relaxing holiday.  Carvoeiro is an excellent resort to use as a base for touring and exploring the region.

The village is built around the main square adjacent to the beach and during the summer months you can enjoy free entertainment here. There are several small mini-markets in the village and a large supermarket on the outskirts. A must for all ice-cream lovers is the 'Cone Shop' which is in the main village square next to Sully's Bar. They make their own waffle cones, and a local favourite is 'waffles and ice cream'.

No holiday is complete unless you have visited one of the many pottery shops in the area. A Praca Velha (The Old Market) is in the centre of Carvoeiro selling a variety of pots, and you can have a quick peek at the shop with our 'virtual tour'.
